Weather Forecasters Predicting Wind Gusts Up To 100mph For Front Range And Eastern Plains
DENVER (AP) - Colorado weather forecasters say winds up to 100 miles per hour are possible through tomorrow on the Front Range and eastern Plains. Parts of Colorado 128 and Colorado 93 south of Boulder had to be closed because of gusty winds last night, but they were reopened today. Up to 30 inches of snow could fall in the northern Colorado mountains by tomorrow.
Photo IDs Required To Vote Debate Returns To Colorado Legislature
DENVER (AP) - A long-debated requirement that voters show photo IDs when they cast ballots is back before the Colorado Legislature in a committee hearing today. Republicans generally support the idea, including Colorado's top elections official, Secretary of State Scott Gessler. Democrats fear the change could make it harder for people who don't have driver's licenses to cast their ballots.
Sen. Udall Hosting National Security Forum And Panel Discussion Today
DENVER (AP) - Sen. Mark Udall says the national debt is one of the biggest threats to national security that requires cuts to the military budget and finding ways to rein in Medicare and health care spending. Udall is hosting a national security forum and panel discussion in Denver today of high-ranking military brass, diplomats and government officials.
Residents In Fort Carson Area Will Soon See And Hear More Helicopters
FORT CARSON, Colo. (AP) - Residents in the Fort Carson area can expect to see and hear more helicopters when Army aviators from Fort Campbell, Ky., conduct high-altitude training in Colorado this spring. The 101st Combat Aviation Brigade's training will take place from early April until mid-May. Aviators will fly Blackhawk, Apache and Chinook helicopters. Army pilots train in Colorado because the mountains resemble the terrain in Afghanistan.
